Noordwijk
Over the years, Noordwijk has changed from a fishermans'village into a lively seaside resort of international allure. Now a day, there is a wide beach with a long boulevard. There is a wide choice of hotels, restaurants and terraces.
What does the beach have to offer?
A total amount of 13 kilometres of beach is waiting for you in Noordwijk. The beach is child friendly and accessible for disabled people. Surfers are also more then welcome here. On the north side you find the Duindamseslag. On this part of the beach you can go horse riding through the surf.
The Boulevard
In Noordwijk you can take a long walk over the boulevard. Better yet, Noordwijk has two boulevards. North of Huis ter Duin you find the modern Koningin Wilhelminaboulevard. If you walk south you will end up on the older and more traditional Koningin Astridboulevard.
A look around town
At walking distance from Noordwijk aan Zee you will find Noordwijk Binnen. Well-worth a walk, cause the old centre with lime-trees, old houses and even two village pumps will completely relax you.
Sights
During your visit to Noordwijk you cannot miss the lighthouse. The tower originates from 1912 and is about 25 meters high. On the first Saturday after April 19th there is a large flower parade passing from Noordwijk to Haarlem. On the 3rd Saturday of August, the Rijsburg flower parade takes place. The Sunday afterwards you can take another good look at the floats on the boulevard. A visit to Space Expo is also a possibility. Here you will learn all about space travel.
A little bit further
From Noordwijk, you can start the beautiful flower bulb route by car or bicycle. Every spring you can ride 60 kilometres by the most beautiful flower bulb fields of Noordwijk, Hillegom, Lisse and Sassenheim. A visit to the Keukenhof is also a possibility. On your way there you will pass magnificent forests and wild dunes.
