Monkeybos - Playground

The Monkeybos is an adventurous natural playground next to De Tapuit visitor centre, in the heart of the Meijendel dune area near Wassenaar. Children can climb, scramble, build huts, play with sand and water and discover plenty of nature at the same time.

What can you expect at Monkeybos playground?

• Natural play paradise: No standard playground equipment, but tree trunks, rope bridges, wooden climbing frames, sand, water and natural height differences. Ideal for children who love setting off on their own adventures.
• Water and sand play area: With pumps, streams and sluices, children can build dams and make the water flow. On warm days, spare clothes or water shoes are useful.
• In the heart of Meijendel: The Monkeybos is located in the extensive Meijendel nature area, with dunes, woodland, dune lakes and walking and cycling paths. A visit is therefore easy to combine with a short walk or cycle ride.
• Great for families: Right next to the playground is De Tapuit visitor centre, where you can learn more about the nature of Meijendel. There is also a café with a terrace nearby, handy for a break.
• Wildlife in the area: Meijendel is home to fallow deer, rabbits, foxes and many bird species. Especially early in the morning or later in the day, you may spot animals during a walk.

• Location: Monkeybos playground is located next to De Tapuit visitor centre, on Meijendelseweg in Wassenaar.
• Admission: The playground is free to visit.
• Parking: Parking is available at De Tapuit visitor centre. On sunny days and during holidays, it can get busy here, so arriving early is recommended.
• Opening times: The Monkeybos is accessible daily between sunrise and sunset.

A visit to the Monkeybos is easy to combine with a walk through Meijendel, a visit to De Tapuit visitor centre or a day at the beach near Wassenaar or Scheveningen. Especially for families with children up to around 12 years old, this is a wonderful place for an active day out in nature.
